61-yr old Seeks Varsity Admission
A 61-year old man is among a total of 66,544 candidates who registered for the this year’s university admission examination in Benin, to be held in June 2010.
According to figures published by the National Baccalaureate Office in Cotonou, the 2010 figure represents an increase of 3,600 more than the 62,994 candidates who sat for the examination in 2009.
The percentage of female candidates, however, fell from 31.58 per cent in 2009 to 31.05 per cent in 2010.
According to figures, The Cotonou district has the highest number of candidates with more than 15,000 and the north-east has the lowest number with 1,224.
It showed that more than half of the candidates were in Series D (natural science), while Series E (Technology) has the lowest number with 39 candidates.
The youngest candidate for the examination is a 12-year-old girl from the Oueme district, while the 61-year-old,
the oldest candidate, is a man from Ouidah, from the Atlantic district.
