Late Frank Eke: Greater Port Harcourt Condoles Family
The Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam said with the demise of His Royal Highness, Dr. Frank Eke, Eze Gbaka Gbaka of Evo Kingdom Rivers State has lost a legend and one of its great sons and leaders.
Mrs Cookey-Gam made this submission when she led a delegation from the Authority to the palace of the late Royal Highness, Dr. Frank Eke in Woji Town, Evo Kingdom, to condole with the family.
The Administrator, who presented a condolence letter on behalf of the Board Management and Staff of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, stated that Dr. Eke was a great man of honour who rendered excellent service to the State as a physician, Deputy Governor and as a traditional ruler.
She further stated that the late former Deputy Governor of old Rivers State was a likeable personality, who has left behind worthy and able successors to led the kingdom as she charged the family to follow his footsteps.
The GPHCDA Boss also called on the people of Evo Kingdom to stand by the family at this time of their bereavement, as their monarch will be missed by all.
In his response, Prince Leslie Eke, thanked the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority for commiserating with the Royal family and the Evo Kingdom in general, adding that the condolence visit will strengthen the family at this trying moment.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
