Ministry Inaugurates Dev Control Agents
The Permanent
Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development and Physical Planning, Mr Lawson Ikuru, has urged agents of the ministry to cultivate the spirit of hard work, so as to produce the desired result in the development of Rivers State.
Ikuru who said this in his office while inaugurating, development control agents of the ministry stated that illegal developers have taken over the state and stressed the need for the realisation of the original master plan of Rivers State as well as to re-establish the garden city status of Port Harcourt.
The Permanent Secretary advised the officers to liaise with the Director of Developmental Control, Mr Mina Aprioku for proper guideline in carrying out their assignment which includes monitoring of illegal building without statutory approval from the ministry.
Others are to ensure that all development and contravention in and around Port Harcourt are reported to the ministry and to notify the ministry on any other developmental control issue in the state.
Ikuru warned that the ministry will not hesitate to withdraw the appointment of anybody found wanting in the operating and urging them to take the assignment seriously as to project the good image of the ministry in a manner that will yield positive result.
