Church Plans More Evangelical Outreaches
Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Parish, Port Harcourt plans to increase its evangelical activities to win more souls.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Father Polycarp Henetu, who disclosed this in an interview with The Tide as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the parish, said that the parish will plant more churches across the old Port Harcourt Township and Borokiri.
Rev. Father Henetu said that the parish has obtained lands at the Borokiri sandfill to build a church, stressing that when the church is completed more people will be brought to the kingdom of God.
In his address during the celebration, the priest said the parish has witnessed tremendous growth over the years.
“This day also is the Golden Jubilee of the parish. We recall the long history of our parish and we feel indebted to the many priests, laymen and women who laboured to see that this church grows both in faith and structure. Over the years we have built structures, church presbytery, schools etc but the most important structure we have built is the spiritual growth of our people during these decades through prayer and works of charity rooted in faith and love” he said.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the Pastoral Council, Hon (Dr) J.C Imegi said that the parish which is rural in a metropolitan city of Port Harcourt has distinguished itself through its evangelical outreaches.
