The Association of Niger
Delta Bishop has expressed satisfaction with the level of governance in the region in the past eight years.
In a communiqué at the end of its 3rd Synod at the Commonwealth Covenant Church at Alode Eleme, in the Eleme Local Government Area, the Association also endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second tenure.
The Bishops said that President Jonathan must be encouraged to seek a second tenure to enable him consolidate on the achievements made so far especially in the area of economic prosperity and political stability.
They condemned the description of Dr Goodluck Jonathan as a weak president stressing that his humble disposition must not be seen as a sign of weakness.
The association also described the Boko Haram crisis as a spiritual deluge by Satan to forestall the greatness of Nigeria and urged Christians irrespective of denomination to pray against it.
The president of the Association, Archbishop Dowell Arwomakpa of Christ Ministry Crusaders, Warri, also condemned the call for the break up of the country stressing that such call will lead to anarchy.
Archbishop Arwomakpa said that because Nigeria is already destined for greatness the devil was using Boko Haram and other violent organisations to derail it, noting that the activities of these terrorists will soon end.
The Archbishop said that the synod which has as its theme: “The Church and Nation Building” has chosen to reflect on the state of the nation.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Association, Bishop ( Dr) Edet Mfon of Harvest Time Bible Church, Calabar, said that every adult in the Niger Delta must have a permanent voter card to enable them vote during elections.
