Board Decries Non-Payment Of Water Bills
The General Manager,
Benue Water Board, Mr Michael Dzungu, has accused most government agencies and organisations in the state of not paying water bills.
Dzungu told newsmen in Makurdi, last Monday, that although the bulk of water output from the Greater Makurdi Water Works was consumed by either government agencies or private organisations, they still defaulted in the payment of bills.
“The bulk of our water output is being consumed by government agencies, private and corporate organisations, yet they do not pay water bills.
“Such offices include state and federal secretariats, security agencies, Government House and ministries.”
He identified illegal connections, non-payment of water bills and power outage as some of the problems affecting water supply to parts of the state.
The general manager, who declined comments on the amount owed by the agencies, said that paucity of funds hindered smooth running of water facilities in the state.
