Onelga Dissolves Youth Body, CDC Over Crisis
The Chairman of Ogba/
Egbema/Ndoni local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Austine Ahiamadu has proscribed the Omoku Youth Association and the Omoku Central Communities development Committee (OCCDC).
The Chairman said the dissolution of the two bodies in the area is with immediate effect.
Addressing journalists in his office at Omoku, yesterday, the Chairman said that he was exercising the powers vested in him by the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local Government bye law of Rivers State 2012 and the regulatory laws governing Community Development Committees in Rivers State hand book on Community Development Committees 2010.
According to him, it was saddening that the Youth of Omoku after a long period of suspension by the State government and ban on the CDC, would still allow themselves to be used to cause uproar and commotion in the area.
He said that the activities of the both bodies were a threat to the peace of the local government area adding that the security report indicted both association.
He however, stated that activities of both associations in the area has been suspended till further notice.
The Onelga Chairman therefore directed the leadership of both associations to stop parading themselves in the name of the associations and urged the various companies operating in the area and the general public to take note of the dissolution of the said groups in the area.
The Onelga boss further directed the security agents in the area to arrest any persons or group or persons still going about in the name of the association is adding that the council would reconstitute the leadership at the appropriate time.
He used the opportunity to assure the people of the area of his administration’s commitment to provide adequate security as well as transform the area for better.
