Royal Father Debunks Nullification Of Clan In Etche
The paramount ruler and
the Onye-Ishi Agwuru Obibi/Akwukabi/Ikem clan in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH Eze Stanley Munoye Ogbu, says the clan has not been nullified by Eze E.N.B Opurum as being rumoured in the area.
Addressing journalists in his palace at Umuezibe Akwukabi in Etche over the weekend, Eze Ogbu stated that the clarification become necessary to correct the wrong impression people had concerning a recent statement made by Eze Opurum alleging that the clan had been nullified by him.
Eze Ogbu described the purported nullification as laughable, adding that, the Ochie of Etche lacks the powers to nullify the clan because the area does not fall under his jurisdiction.
According to him, “Etche has three kingdoms namely Okehi, Mba and Igbo with three first class stools manned by a royal majesty, adding that Eze Opurum can not tresspass into another kingdom where his administration does not cover.
“Last year, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, elevated some stools in Etche with the appointment of additional two first class stools, with this, Eze Opurum’s leadership regime came to an end as we now have three kingdoms manned by different majesties.”
“Okehi Kingdom where Obaki clan belongs was created by the Ehi I of Okehi kingdom HRM, Eze Sylvanus Ukaegbu, for administrative convenience”, he stated.
The Onye-Ishi-Agwuru described the purported statement by the Ochie as nothing but administrative trespass, adding that only the monarch of Okehi kingdom has the powers to make such statement and it will have effect on the clan.
Eze Ogbu used the opportunity to thank the state governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for all the numerous projects that were executed in the area and re-assured him of the support of his people.
In their separate speeches, the Ochimba I of Obibi, Eze Nwodim O. Nwodim and the traditional ruler, Dehara, Chief Christian Nweke while dismissing the statement described the Ochie’s action as a fruitless exercise that has no bearing.
The Chief opined that no first class traditional ruler has the powers to interfere with the administration of other kingdoms and advised Eze Opurum to steer clear in the business of Okeli kingdom in the interest of peace.
