Bayelsa To Pay Weigh-In Allowance To Workers
The Bayelsa State Joint Ne
gotiation Council (JNC) has said the State Government would commence payment of weigh-in allowance to its employees as part of effort to strengthen the State workforce.
The State Chairman of JNC, Comrade Pere Weridougha stated this in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt last Thursday.
Weriduogha said the civil service is the engine of government, stressing that the State Government is committed to improving the welfare of workers.
He said the State Government has began payment of four year arrears on the N18,000 minimum wage, stressing that the weigh-in allowance will be implemented after the government had settle the arrears.
He urged the workers to strive to support the State Governments policy and contribute their quota for the restoration agenda of the present administration in the State.
He stressed that some members of the Union and Staff of Ministries had received their arrears and assured that it would go round to every workers.
Weriduogha said the minimum wage arrears is being paid in full contrary to speculation that the money will be paid installmentally.
