The newly-appointed Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Chief Mitema Obodor, said this at a brief handing-over ceremony held at the state secretariat in Yenagoa.
Our correspondent reports that Obodor was, until his recent appointment, the Commissioner for Sports Development.
He replaced Mr James Dugo who was recently relieved of his appointment by Governor Seriake Dickson.
Obodor disclosed that the reforms would help to ensure that rural areas in the state were opened for development.
The commissioner called on principal officers of the ministry to cooperate and work as a team to enable the ministry achieve its objectives.
Obodor, who expressed confidence in the competence of the ministry’s members of staff, said his door would be opened to advice and suggestions that would help move the ministry forward.
The commissioner commended Dugo, his predecessor, for his service to the state and wished him God’s guidance in his future endeavour.
Earlier, Dugo had commended Governor Dickson for the opportunity given to him to serve the people of the state.
The former commissioner urged members of staff of the ministry to extend their hands of fellowship to his successor, whom he described as a consummate team player.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Nathan Ayebakeme, pledged the loyalty of the staff members to the new commissioner.
