Youth Attack Electricity Distribution Office
Angry youths have at
tacked the Diobu Business unit office of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) on the popular Ikwerre Road.
The youths, who were over 100 in number mobilised and stormed the office in the morning hours and smashed windscreen of one of the company’s vehicles, and also damaged furniture other office items. The Tide gathered that the staff of PHED scampered for their safety and it took the intervention of Mile I police officers to save the situation.
The youths were said to be the company customers who were dissatisfied with the poor power supply in the area.
Business Manager of the unit, Engr Akinpelu Dahunsi, told The Tide that some delegates of power consumers from Ojoto Street in Diobu and its neighbouring streets visited him a day before (Monday) and expressed dissatisfaction over power outage for two days in the area.
Engr Dahunsi said he explained to them that the power failure was as a result of poor feeder which was being rectified by the transmission company and assured them that services would be restored immediately the bad feeder had been repaired.
