19th NSF: Ondo Targets Better Performance
The Ondo State
Director of Sports, Idowu Akinbulumo, has said the state intends to use its elite athletes for better performance in the next edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF).
The 19th NSF is scheduled for Calabar, Cross River, from November 27 to December 3.
Akinbulumo told newsmen that the state was poised to raise its bar of performance in Calabar.
According to her, the state will employ the services of experienced athletes to earn better rating on the medal table.
“It is a good thing that the festival has been thrown open to new and old athletes … this will give participating states the opportunity to utilise its skilled athletes in each sport,’’ she said.
The director indicated the readiness of the state to embark on early preparations that would guarantee its success at the biennial national event.
Akinbulumo also said she was hopeful of an impressive showing at the upcoming festival.
Ondo took the sixth position at the 2012 sports festival held in Lagos with a total of 58 medals comprising 18 gold ,12 silver and 28 bronze.
