Council Chairman Donates N8m To Farmers’ Association
The Chairman, Owan East
Local Government Council of Edo, Mr Jimoh Ijegbai, has donated the sum of N8 million to Ebira Farmers Association to boost agriculture in the area.
Presenting the money to the association at the council secretariat in Afuze, Ijegbai said the donation was to assist the farmers in boosting food production in the area.
He said that 40 farmers were to benefit from the money, adding that the idea was to reduce the suffering of the farmers.
“In our 2014 budget, we said we were going to assist Ebira farmers by giving out some money to assist them in boosting agricultural production in the area.
“Forty farmers are to benefit from each ward of the local council,’’ Ijegbai said.
He said that the council had concluded arrangements to construct primary schools in the Ebira community, to alleviate the suffering of their wards who trekked long distances to attend schools in other communities.
Responding, the chairman of the farmers association, Mr Momoh Yakubu, thanked the council chairman for the kind gesture.
“We the farmers in Ebira appreciate your concern towards our plight.’’
Acoording to him, the community had been neglected by previous administrations, and observed that the emergence of Ijegbai as the council chairman had continued to put smile on their faces.
