Dangote Ready To Redeem Eagles Promise
Africa’s richest man,
Aliko Dangote is set to redeem his promise of awarding a $1 million bonus to the Super Eagles for winning the African Cup of Nations last year.
This is coming after an appeal made by Nigeria’s vice-captain Vincent Enyeama, who urged those that made pledges to the team to emulate Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, by honoring their word, after the latter handed over land title documents to the players last week.
“It was just a reminder to patriots who are very busy and may not have been prompted after they made their pledges. The players are determined to bring more honours to fatherland at the forthcoming World Cup,” Enyeama said.
Dangote has now responded to the appeal, disclosing that the money has been made available, but there has been no one to collect it.
“We’ve been waiting for Nigerian officials to collect the money but nobody has written to us,” Dangote told Tidesports.
“We will write to them, asking for the account numbers of the players, then we’ll make the transfer immediately.”
