KDSG Moves To Boost Water Supply
The Kaduna State
Government has commenced the installation of new facilities to boost water supply to Kaduna metropolis by 300 million litres daily.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Ado Audu disclosed this while inspecting the facilities in Kaduna.
“The pumps have arrived and we are going to start installing them”, he said.
He however alerted the residents that there would be “noticeable fluctuation” in water supply as a result of the work going on.
He said work on the Malali Water Works has been completed, while its treatment plant, designed to provide 150 million litres of water daily would be completed soon.
“We have also two other pumps that each can provide 75 million litres of water every day and another one that can deliver 85 million litres per day.”
The commissioner said new generating sets had also been procured to ensure uninterrupted water supply once the project was completed.
“It is part of the determination of Gov. Mukhtar Yero to ensure that the state gets adequate water supply.”
He said the government was also expanding other regional water supply facilities in Zaria, Kafanchan, Kagoro, Manchok, Kwoi and Saminaka.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by the General Manager of the State Water Board, Mr Kabir Rufai had also visited facilities at Doka, Barnawa and Kawo water works.
