How We Monitor Erring Officers – FRSC Boss
The Oyo State Sector
Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Godwin Ogagaoghene says the commission has mechanisms put in place to monitor and punish erring officers.
He told our correspondent in Ibadan last Tuesday that the FRSC, like other organisations, has officers working against the purpose of the commission.
“We cannot deny that we have bad eggs amidst us just like other organisations,” he said.
He, however, added that the commission had different levels of monitoring system to ensure that those found working against the purpose of the commission were identified and punished.
“We have the Corps Marshall Surveillance Team which goes out to all sectors unannounced to find out erring patrol team or staff.
“If any is found wanting, he is picked, tried and if found guilty, sent out of the organisation.
“Next is the Zonal Commanding Officer Surveillance Team. This goes round the zone to see that operations are carried out according to the books,” he said.
Ogagaoghene added that the FRSC also has the Sector Surveillance Team to monitor activities of the commission within the sector while the Unit Surveillance Team focus on the units.
“This aside, as a commanding officer, if I am going on a journey and I see that a patrol team is not doing what it should be doing, I will stop and take necessary action.
“No matter the situation, we will continue to ensure that the system is cleared of wrong attitudes,” he said.
