Court Orders Rivers Police To Return Chidi Lloyd’s Passport
A High Court in Port Harcourt has ordered the Rivers State Police Command to return the International Passport of the Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd to the court.
Justice Letan Nyordee also ordered the officer in charge of legal unit to appear in court on the next adjourned date.
The court later adjourned till February 13 this year for hearing.
Counsel to Chidi Lloyd, Beluolisa Nwofor, SAN, who spoke to journalists, said the refusal of the police to release the passport had stalled the medical trip of Lloyd.
He said the lawmaker was expected to travel for medication abroad in January this year.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General of Rivers State, Worgu Boms who is prosecuting the matter, said that the police were aware that the international passport ought to be under the custody of the court, as part of the bail conditions of the House Leader.
He said that with the continued withholding of the passport, Llyod could neither travel nor re-deposit the passport at the court.
Meanwhile, Boms also said that the police were yet to release the certified original copy of the case file of Llyod to his office, months after he took over the matter.
