RSG To Support Legionnaires’ Agric Project
The Rivers State Government says it will support the agricultural projects being proposed by the Nigerian legion in the state.
The State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru said this yesterday at the wreath laying ceremony marking the end of the 2010 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebrations in Port Harcourt.
Engr. Ikuru who stood in for Governor Chibuike Amaechi said it has become necessary for government to support the project because it is an area the legionnaires would massively be economically empowered.

Philemon Chinda (rtd) had appealed to individuals and corporate organizations to join hands with the government to restore smiles on the faces of the dependants of the fallen heroes through employment, soft loans and award of scholarship to their children to enable them have a sense of belonging.
He further appealed to the state governor who is also the legion’s patron to approve a monthly stipend for the body for the upkeep of its secretariat, assist it to build a befitting secretariat in the state.
The legionnaires praised Governor Amaechi for his developmental strides, saying “with what we have seen physically, we are hopeful that you will use the same wisdom to attend to the plight of the ex-servicemen and the dependants of the fallen heroes”.
