Council Set For First W/African Conference
The Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction is set to discuss the role of construction in developing countries at its forthcoming conference in Lagos in January 2014.
The discourse with the theme, ‘Construction in developing countries and its contribution to sustainable development’, has sub-themes including environmental planning, design, management, technology, education and training.
According to a statement by the council, the conference, which will attract building construction experts from all over the world, is the first to hold in the West African sub-region since its establishment in 1953.
It added that the University of Lagos and the Herriot Watt University, Edinburg, United Kingdom had been granted the hosting right for the 2014 and 2015 conferences, respectively.
The statement read in part, “Conference will be a gathering of seasoned researchers, industry practitioners and policymakers. It will feature different parallel sessions involving over 100 peer-reviewed papers on different issues relating to sustainable development by researchers from different countries across the globe.”
