Oshiomhole Swears – In LG Sole Administrator
Governor Adams
Oshiomhole of Edo State has sworn- in Mr Iyobo Igharo as the Sole Administrator of Orhiowon Local Government Council for two months.
Igharo’s appointment followed the suspension of the council’s chairman, Chief Roland Ibierutomwen, by the governor, for allegedly traveling to Italy with some council officials without the permission of the state government.
Oshiomhole stressed that the appointment of the sole administrator was imperative because there should be no vacuum in leadership.
He said that the appointment was to enable the panel, set up to investigate the travel of the council chairman, the vice-chairman, the secretary and some councillors, to conclude its assignment.
The governor charged the sole administrator to carry out all the duties assigned to the council chairman.
Oshiomhole, however, enjoined the sole administrator to work closely with other council officials, including those councillors who were not suspended.
He urged him to consult widely before taking any decision, adding that he should also liaise with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the discharge of his duties.
Reminding the sole administrator that the task before him was challenging, Oshiomhole advised him against sharing local government funds to party leaders.
He also urged him to perform his duties in accordance with the extant laws, including the Procurement Law, while observing due process.
Responding, Igharo pledged to carry out his duties diligently, while seeking guidance from relevant authorities as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and fulfilled tenure.
