C’River Trains 1,500 Youths In Skills Acquisition
The Manager of
Technology Incubation Centre in Calabar, a unit of the Federal Ministry of Technology, Mr Edidor Unoh, says the centre has trained 1,500 youths on different skills.
Unoh made this known in Calabar while speaking with journalists in preparation for the second graduation ceremony of the trained youths.
He said that the youths underwent three years training in car tracking device, fire resistant tiles, bullet proof brick, power switch equipment, domestic faults detector and others.
Unoh said the centre had earlier in the year sponsored a research on insecticide at the University of Calabar which led to the production of insecticide mosquito nets that could be effective for 18 months.
“Currently, the centre is collaborating with the University of Calabar to research on a long lasting insecticide mosquito net that will last for four years“, he said.
Unoh said the centre was satisfied with the level of training given to the youths, adding that it would go a long way in making them self-reliant thereby reducing unemployment in the country.
He appealed to Nigerians to always patronise goods made in the country, saying that this would help to promote productivity and attract investors into the country.
Unoh advised the youths to be committed to the different skills they had acquired and to employ others in their chain of businesses.
