Rivers High Court Judges, Others Bag Awards
Two High Court Judges in Rivers State and nine other personalities have been presented with meritorious awards by the Old Boys Association of Sancta Maria High School, Omoku.
The two High Court Judges include, Hon Justice S.O Benson and Justice Ihemnacho W. Obuzor.
The other personalities are, former Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, Architect Julius Urombo, former Executive Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Engr. Beniah L. Ojum and the Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Hon. Austin Ahiamadu.
Also on the list of Awardees are Dr. Azubuike Cyprian Nwokocha, Dr Surveyor Chukwudi Isaiah Whnedike Ezi and Mr Francis Igwebuike Ifi. The rest are Pastor Liverpool Eboh Onyije, Pro fessor Fidelis O. Nyemutu Roberts and Mr. Davies Ojima. The National President of the association, Elder Christian Ojas Ellah said that the association had impacted positively on the school through the implementation of some programmes.
According to him, a complete set of computers had been donated to the school by the association courtesy of Engr. George C. Okoroma, while a six years scholarship of N300, 000 to ten students was also initiated by the association courtesy of Hon. Felix Obuah.
Others were donation of trophies for sports competition by Dr Emeka Okoroma, administration of guidance and counseling programme for students as well as the celebration of 40 years anniversary of the school in 2002.
Elder Ellah said that the Awardees had made the school proud and therefore deserved to be honoured. “Today, we want to honour eleven of our members for their respective achievements and roles in projecting the image of this great institution called SAMAHISCO,” he said.
A former principal of the school, Elder Isaac O. Izeogu called on the members to put their trust in God and also prepare for their old age.
Elder Izeogu who described aging as an exciting adventure said “now is the time to prepare for ageing, for it is never too late nor too early for the wholesome potentials in that journey reside in the realm of attitude not in years.”

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
