Rivers Police Arrest Tinted Glass Offenders
The Rivers State Police
command says it has resumed checking vehicles with tinted glasses and revolving lights.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Kidaya Mahemmed Ahmed made this known to The Tide correspondent in Port Harcourt recently.
Ahmed said although he could not give the exact figure of persons arrested, the ban on vehicles with tinted glasses and revolving lights is still in force in Rivers State.
“Anybody seen plying vehicle with tinted glass or revolving light will be apprehended and dealt with accordingly,” he said, adding that we are on the look out of such vehicles so as to ensure enforcement of the ban.
It would be recalled that the state police command had earlier through a directive from police headquarters in Abuja warned members of the public that a ban had been placed on banks, companies and individuals using revolving lights or amber lights, tinted glasses, and supernumerary (SPN) plate numbers.
It warned that all vehicles and Hilux vans must cease from using such vehicles unless they get approval from appropriate quarters.
The Tide gathered that police personnel in the state was directed to arrest and prosecute any driver or person found violating this prohibition order.
Meanwhile, the police in the state have reminded that security is a collective responsibility, and solicited for the co-operation of all to serve them better.
