Assassins Kill DFA In Rivers
The Director, Finance and Administration, Rivers State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Henry Ogiri has been reportedly killed by unknown assassins.
Sources informed The Tide yesterday that the late Ogiri, who hailed from Oshika village in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state was gunned down in the presence of his family at his Ahoada residence in the early hours of Sunday when he resisted attempts by his killers to take him away.
According to the source, the gunmen had stormed his Ahoada residence and ordered him to join them in his car which he resisted before they gunned him down.
The deceased had also served as the Director of Finance and Administration, Rivers State Health Management Board as well as the Post Primary Schools Board.
An indigene of Ekpeye, who spoke under condition of anonymity with The Tide described the incident as one too many, stressing that the Ekpeye ethnic nationality had lost an illustrious son.
He, however, urged the police not to rest on their oars until the suspected killers are arrested and brought to justice.
Another Ekpeye indigene also expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Ahoada and Orashi region in general, noting that people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed, especially in the Orashi region.
He also urged the police to bring the killers to book while security be beefed up across the state to stem the rising tide of assassinations and kidnapping.
When contacted on phone before press time yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Angela Agabe said that she needed time to find out what happened before making any confirmation to the press, saying that as soon as she got details from the appropriate police division and area command, she would get back to the reporter.
However, as at press time, the police PRO was yet to pierce the facts of the incident together.
