Islamic Leader Seeks Prayers For Peace In Rivers
The Rivers State Islamic Leader and Vice President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor has called on Moslems in the state to spend the last days of the Ramadan in special prayers for the return of peace in the state.
Alhaji Uhor who made the call in a statement made available to The Tide recently, said they should pray Allah to touch the hearts of all the key parties in the crisis in the state, to enable them bury their hatchet and allow peace reign in the greater interest of the people.
He enjoined the warring parties and all relevant stakeholders to leverage the intervention of the National Assembly for lasting peace to reign.
According to him, the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi still has a lot to offer the people of the state and appealed for maximum support and co-operation to enable him deliver quality projects and programmes as dividends of democracy.
Alhaji Uhor said Rivers people would be losers if anything is done to truncate Governor Amaechi’s administration, saying “he should be allowed to complete on-going projects and fine-tune completed ones.
The state Islamic leader also urged politicians to have the fear of God in them and serve the people diligently and sincerely without creating unnecessary tension within the polity.
“They should remember always that position and power belong to God and that He will certainly call them to account for all their actions in or out of office”, he added.
