RSG Targets One Billion Syringes Production Annually
The Rivers State Government auto syringe factory, Alakahia in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area will soon increase its production of syringes to one billion per annum
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parker disclosed this at the weekend in Port Harcourt, during the inauguration of the new executive of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, GRA
The commissioner, who was represented by Dr Kalada Iruenabere, also said that the government was at the verge of building four regional hospitals in the three senatorial districts of the state.
He commended the Rotary club for being a good partner in the campaign against polio and other diseases, and urged other organizations to emulate the charity body
Speaking with newsmen, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari said that Rotary Club has always been a good partner in the eradication of polio, malaria and HIV/AIDS in the state.
Mrs Semenitari said that apart from its partnership with the state government, the club has also partnered with the Okirika Local Government Council in the health sector at Kalio –Ama.
The commissioner also described the new president of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA, District 9140, Miss Medline Tador as a round peg in a round hole, noting that Rotarian Tador will surely bring her wealth of experience to bear in efforts to move the club forward.
Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, GRA, has listed six areas of focus in the new Rotary year. The new president, Ms Medline Tador in her address said that the six areas will include health and sanitation, education as well as skill acquisition among others.
Consequently, she said that the young Einstein Science Challenge competition will be strengthen to produce more young scientists in the state, while its health programme will be strengthen to be result-oriented.
The outgoing president of the club, Rotarian Virginia Major said that her executive had laid a solid foundation for the new executive to consolidate on in order to achieve set goals.
