Federation Cup: Rivers Angels Plot 3rd Consecutive Title
Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt is on the march again for the title of the 2013 women’s Federation Cup competition.
Having won the title back-to-back in 2011 and 2012, the Angels, who have vowed to do the double of league and cup title this year are three matches away from a third consecutive cup triumphs.
On their way at the quarter finals stage of this year’s Federation Cup competition is the Kogi Conference Queens FC, who they are billed to do battle with for a semi final ticket tomorrow at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
The Angels, according to camp sources have promised to raise their game and end the Kogi Queen’s dream within regulation time in Abeokuta after surviving the scare from Ibom Queens at the round of 16.
Rivers Angels managed to edge out the hard fighting Ibom Queens 10-9 on penalties in the last round after playing goalless in regulation time.
Also at the round of 16 stage, Delta Queens thrashed C.I Angels, also of Delta State 5-0, Nasarawa Queens Over came Sunshine Queens 5-4 to berth in the quarter final stage.
Tomorrow, Bayelsa Queens, who were drawn by will now trade tackles with Martins Whyte Doves of Edo State in Owerri, Nasarawa Queens FC takes on Taraba Queens in Katsina-Ala, while Delta Queens will encounter former perennial winners, Pelican Stars in a potentially explosive schedule in Abuja.
