2009: PH Airport Records 18,448 Aircraft Movement
A total aircraft movement of 18448 operated at the Port-Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa between January and October 2009
According to aircraft movement statistics obtained from the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) indicated that total domestic aircraft movement within the period was 17419 while international operation within the same period was 1,029.
The statistics further indicated that a total arrival of domestic aircraft was 8,743 while total aircraft departure was 8,676.
The chart further indicated that international and domestic departure were 507 and 522 respectively.
The break down of the movement of aircraft shows that January recorded arrival of 883 departure 893, February 823 and 831 arrival and departure respectively.
Arrival and departure of aircraft further shows that in March 856,861, April 791, 780, May 846 and 826 June, July and August were 822, 814, 905 and 890, 944 and 926.
September arrival, 932, departure 923 and October 941 and 932.
On the international wing, January, February and March recorded arrivals and departures as 34, 45, 33 and 49, 45.
In April, the arrival was 53 departure was 58, May 53 arrival and departure 58, June 49 and 53, July 55 arrival and departure 61.
The months of August, Sepatember and October showed that aircrft movement recorded 59, 60, 55, 66 and 63, 65 respectively.
The total statistics however showed a significant increase compared to last year’s aircraft movement.
The imformation which was obtained from the Air Traffic Controller Unit of the Port-Harcourt Airport showed that more aircrfts arrived the airport in November and December following the various activities in Port-Harcourt in the last two months.
The activiies which include the Interntional Film Festival, the Rivers State organised cultural carnival and the hosting of Miss ECOWAS beauty peagent which was organised by the Rivers State government.
It was revealed that all these programmes increased the rate of movement of both persons and aircraft at the airport.
