Proprietor Canvasses Improved Funding For The Tide
The Proprietor of Krama Academy, Abua Central, Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Mr Fortune Krama has called for improved funding of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Publishers of The Tide to enable the corporation discharge its responsibilities effectively.
Mr Krama stated this during an excursion to the Corporation over the weekend.
According to him, “my student are having a real classroom, adding that he never expected something like this.
He said that the purpose of the excursion is for the students to see thing for themselves and apply it to what they have learnt and to know how the newspaper is being produced, adding that this will help them in choosing their career.
The Proprietor pointed out that the school was established to cover the various aspects of educational development which include, the psychometric, affective and cognitive domain, adding that skills application as a critical component of education was also part of the school’s curriculum.
Earlier, conducting the students round the various departments of the Corporation, the Deputy News Editor of The Tide, Dr Paul-Worika said The Tide is one of the oldest surviving state government newspaper in the South-South zone in particular and the country in general and lauded the decision of the school to visit the Corporation.
He said that The Tide was undergoing a transformation, adding that the state government has started the process of acquiring a modern rotary machine as part of its plan to reposition the newspaper to effectively inform, sensitise and mobilized the populace for good governance and development.
One of the students, Gift Robert who expressed gratitude to the organization for the opportunity, said “I am very happy to be here because I have learnt so many things and this will help me in choosing my career” he said.
Another student, Peter Bright said the visit has to broaden his knowledge on the process of production of a newspaper.
