Nigerians Worked Against Maigari – Inyama
NFF Executive Committee member, Emeka Inyama has denounced ‘unpatriotic’ Nigerians who worked against Aminu Maigari’s bid to join the CAF Executive Committee.
NFF president Maigari lost out to Benin’s Moucharafou Anjorin, and Inyama claimed that certain Nigerians actively worked against Maigari’s candidacy.
“We have it on good authority that some Nigerians worked against the candidacy of Aminu Maigari, day and night. They did everything to sabotage his candidacy. It is unfortunate and unpatriotic.”
And echoing Maigari’s comments, Inyama called on CAF to entrench a better system that would allow what he described as ‘the best people’ to emerge.
“There should be a new way of conducting these polls. The best people should emerge.
“I really cannot understand why someone like Maigari, President of Nigeria FA, and Danny Jordaan of South Africa, who organised the best Fifa World Cup Finals ever, should not win seats on the CAF Executive Committee.”
