Foundation Donates 100 Desks To Primary School
Esit Eket Community Development Foundation (EECDF), a community based foundation, has donated 100 dual desks to Methodist Primary School, Odoro Nkit in Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The Administrative Officer of the foundation Mr Emmanuel Thompson, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Eket.
He said that the gesture was borne out of the foundation’s desire to impact positively on education sub-sector in the community.
He said the cardinal objective of the project was to ultimately enhance learning as well as complement government effort in improving the quality of education in the state.
Thompson said that the foundation would provide furniture and science equipment to targeted schools in the area.
“This intervention will address the challenges of pupils’ poor performance in internal and external examinations in the area,’’ he said.
Thompson noted that the major problems faced by government primary schools in the area were poor sanitary facilities, insufficient furniture, lack of teaching aids and non functional libraries.
According to him, various stakeholders, government, companies, NGO’s and philanthropists have made effort to upgrade infrastructure, provide teaching aids and furniture in public schools with varying degree of success.
