Sharks Player Sets 20 – Goal Target
A player of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, Luter Iyorhe, has said that he is hopeful of netting 20 goals in the 2012/2013 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.
The league, earlier scheduled to kick off on February 16, will now commence on March 9, after it was halted by unsettled issues regarding sponsorship.
Iyorhe told Tidesports in Lagos that he is relying on his current form and the support of his team mates to hit the mark.
“Goal scoring is my hobby. I love to score goals and I have set a target for myself to score 20 in the new league season.
It’s not going to be easy, but I am relying on sustaining my current form and also the support of my team mates to achieve that,” he said.
The newly-recruited player added that there was a renewed confidence that his good form would earn him a call up to the senior national team.
He said his hope of playing for the Super Eagles sprang from the impressive performances of the home-based players during the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
“I have a renewed confidence that I can play for the Super Eagles someday and contribute my quota, if I am able to do well for Sharks.
“The performance of the players from the home front at the Nations Cup finals will be the key factor that will drive most local players to prominence.
“Sunday Mba’s performance and that of others will inspire us (the home-based players) to be more committed to our game,” Iyorhe added.
