Development of Science Laboratory in Secondary Schools has been described as the spring board for any science oriented profession among youths in the country.

The dearth of science laboratory in secondary schools has marred the interest of students picking up career in science oriented endeavours.

These remarks were made by the Delta State Commissioner for Education, who was represented by Mrs. R. E. Owewo, during the commissioning of science laboratory block at Idheze Grammar School, Idheze, Isoko South Local Governemnt Area, Delta State recently built by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company. (NAOC).

She commended the company for complimenting the efforts of the government towards developing the rudiments of science education in secondary schools and urged the principal of the school to ensure that the project is protected, as well as students to be serious in their studies.

In his speech, the Isoko South LGA caretaker committee chairman, Engr. Goodluck Idele, thanked the firm and urged them to monitor the project to ensure that the laboratory is put into good use, as he lauded the peaceful disposition of the community.

The principal of the school, Mr. G. O. Okpokpo and the Community Development chairman, Marcus Idike, respectively appealed for the equipment of the lab by the company.

Speaking at the occasion, the NAOC General Manager, district, represented by the Public Relation Community and Government Laison Manager, Prince Nwachuku Obi, said the project is a true testimony of the companies preparedness to boost science and technology in schools.

He charged the community to maintain the existing peace between the company and them, and assured to equip the science laboratory as enshrined in the M.O.U.

In another development, the Omoku Central Development Committee has expressed their gratitude over what they described as the developmental stride of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Omoku.

Speaking recently during the commissioning of three roads with drainages in the area, built by the company, the OCDC General Secretary, Chukudi Samuel, said that the community and company have partnered for over 50 years.

He commended them for the numerous rural infrastructure sited in the area and solicited for the sustainability of the cordial relationship.

The representative of Agip General Manager, District, the Public Relation Community and Government Laison Manager, Prince Nwachuku Obi, assured that the company will continue to partner in the development of Omoku town in particular and ONELGA in general, through the  provision of developmental amenities.
