Butchers in the state have called on the state government to upgrade structures in the state abattoir to world class standard and maintain the existing ones for smooth business operation.
The National Butcher Association (Trans-Amadi), Alhaji Maisundu Ibrahim Bello, made the call Wednesday during a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, noted that the present space for its business has become too tight due to the daily increase of business operations in the area.
He pointed out that the demand became necessary this yuldetide season where market operators have increased their purchasing level in order to meet up with the present demand of the season.

He revealed that his association have almost concluded plans to import cattles from an alternative source in order to sale beef at a reduced cost this Christmas season.
The butcher boss said since his tenure as the Chairman of the union, that butchers in the state have enjoyed a relative peace and a smooth working environment.
According to him, there was no better achievement a leader could record than to ensure that all operators under his care were operating in an environment devoid of trouble.
He has also warned meat dealers in the state especially at slaughter axis, to always obey and keep all sanitation laws, adding that they should not fail in the business of keeping their surroundings clean by not waiting for sanitation days before dong so.
