Medical Treatment: Ado Bayero, Sons Fly To Britain
Feelers reaching our news desk indicate that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero whose convoy was attacked by Boko Haram last Saturday, has been flown to the United Kingdom, “for medical attention”. He was said to have sustained injury following the attack.
The Emir left with his two sons, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, Ciroman Kano and Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, Turakin Kano, District Heads of Dala and Nassarawa respectively. They both sustained different degrees of injuries during the attack, but security agencies and Palace sources insisted the Emir was in stable condition even after the attack.
The 83-year old Kano paramount ruler who is billed to celebrate his 50th anniversary on the throne this year was at Kano’s Central Mosque where he attended a special prayer before his departure.
The special prayer organized by the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Sheikh Sani Zaharadeen was also attended by traditional rulers, politicians and government officials who prayed for the revered monarch before his departure to London.
The Tide also gathered that the decision to take the Emir abroad was to give him the opportunity to have enough rest after the traumatic experience of last Saturday.
The Emir was seen off at Malam Aminu International Airport, MAKIA, by the Kano state Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, where he boarded a chattered flight which departed the airport at about 1:30 p.m.
Emir Bayero narrowly escaped death on Saturday in the heart of his kingdom when suspected terrorists threw explosives at his convoy followed with gun shots.
The Kano monarch lost his driver and three guards to that attack, while several others, including his two sons were injured.
