RSG Approves New Bridge Across Orashi River
Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has approved the construction of a new bridge across the Orashi Rivers to link Ekpeye Communities with Engeni people, in Ahoada-West Local Government Area of the state.
Announcing this while addressing Ekpeye people at Ubeta in Ubie Clan during his meet-the-people-tour of Ahoada-West Local Government Area, Governor Amaechi said last week that the new bridge, when completed, will facilitate movement within the two communities which had been separated by the Orashi River.
The governor assured that all the projects being executed in the various communities in the area, such as the new model primary schools, roads and health centres, would be completed.
He approved the construction of an additional Primary Health Centre for Ubeta bringing the total number of health centres in the local government area to eight, based on their population, stating that the sitting of infrastructures should be devoid of political considerations.
The state chief executive, advised the people to elect or recommend for appointment only leaders that have their interest at heart.
The governor maintained that those communities that are not enjoying power supply would be provided with electricity soon to enable them engage in small scale businesses that would improve their standard of living.
According to him, the policy of government to build one standard secondary school per local government area that would have the state-of-the-art facilities including teachers’ quarters, boarding houses for 100 students has taken off.
Governor Amaechi solicited the cooperation of the people in supporting the work on projects sited in their area to enable the contractors complete them.
Earlier, at the Palace of Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Eze Robinson O. Robinson, the royal father thanked the governor for the provision of infrastructural facilities that is transforming the state.
Eze Robinson lauded him for the elimination of upland/riverine dichotomy as Rivers people remain one entity and expressed the support and loyalty of the people of the area to his administration.
In his address, the Paramount Ruler of Ubie Clan, Eze Wilson Ogbobula who was represented by Eze David Chigemerem, enumerated some of the achievements of the state government in their area and requested for roads, more health centres, schools as well as appointments of their sons and daughters into positions of trust.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
