NOKIA, the world leader in mobility has once again re-affirmed its commitment  towards appreciating and supporting youths who actively strive to make positive changes  within their communities, Nokia and IEAP African honoured an additional ten young Nigerians through the Nigrian Youths Leadership Awards. This year’s event which held at the Shell Hall at Lagos Muson centre, Victoria Island, was graced by eminent personalities from across the country such as guests from the private sector, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the development organisations as well as members of leading media agencies. The event was chaired by Mr. SAnusi Lamido Sanusi the current CBN Governor and a serving member on LEAP’s Advisory board while Mr. Sesan Awoniki, CEO of Anchor International consulting served as the keynote speaker for the occasion The communication manager Nokia Nigeria and West Africa, Mrs. Ngozi Ife Annene said the partnership with IEAP Africa presents a unique opportunity” for us at Nokia. The platform that IEAP Africa works together to using a comprehensive approach to tackle issues that one close to hearts of youth engaging them and interacting with them. It is something young Nigerians appreciate and it is something that we look forward to at Nokia”

As always, the applicant for this year awards were received following a national advertising campaign: these applicants were meticulously screened and following rigorous deliberation by a team of world class Judges, ten youths from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria with change initiatives focused on business and economic development, environment, education, law and human rights, healthy media, art culture and science and technology, were featured for the award.

Speaking at the event, communication manager Nokia Nigeria, Ngozi Ife Annene, commended the effort of the awardees for their various contributions to the country in a way they know best. Nokia’s belief in power of youth has been demonstrated in the company’s sponsorship of the youth leadership programme, for the past five years.                 

Nokia identifies with the passion of these young adults and would continue to encourage and support their dreams of seeing changes in this country,” Annene said.

Mrs. Annene further described Nokia’s relationship between IEAP Africa and IYF  as “a partnership that we value greatly” one which has encouraged Nokia to do more.

Our successful partnership with IEAP Africa is proof that corporate bodies can have a positive impact on societies” she explained. In fact our partnership with IEAP has expanded to reach more youths we have just commenced a high school leadership programme on Ethics and Civics, or LEC which will bring life skill and civics awareness to teans”.
