of All Stars Football Clubside, Goldashe United FC, Mr. Fubara Kingsley Hart was last weekend inducted as Patron of the Bonny Integrated Farmers Co-operatives Union at a ceremony which held in Bonny Island.

Receiving the certificate of induction, the football administrator tasked the group to be proactive in their effort to attain self sufficiency in food production in Bonny LGA and beyond, adding that this will go a long way to boost the gross domestic product in the economy.

Fubara Kingsley Hart charged members of the Union to be mindful of their role of ensuring the availability of sufficient food for the people in the oil and gas Island and the larger environs, adding that fish farming, poultry and livestock among others, should be maximally explored.

He drew their attention to the corporate social responsibility which he said had been placed on them following their incorporation by the relevant federal or state agency.

Mr Fubara Kingsley Hart, who is also the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), Government House, Port Harcourt acknowledged the importance of the organization not only as agricultural force in the area but as an employment generation agency.

He urged the group to look beyond subsistence farming and target mechanised agriculture which has the capacity to accommodate the teeming unemployed youths.

Reacting specifically on his induction as patron of the body, the Goldashe leader expressed delight and promised to contribute his quota in cause of making food available to the people.

“As one who started out with farming during my early years in life, I must confess that I feel very joyful and fulfilled by your association today. Though I veered off to an equally relevant endeavor, I shall continue to identify with farming and farmers, and possibly retire as a farmer when the time comes” he averred.

He implored them to explore opportunities of commercial credits offered by banks and the government to cushion financial challenges while also urging the group to ‘globalize their activities’ by embracing the information and communication technology.

Earlier, the Secretary of the co-operative body, Mr. George A. Allison had explained that the choice of the DFA was informed by his wealth of experience in agro-allied activities, in addition to what he said was his remarkably outstanding services to humanity.
