Opobo Students Hold National Convention …To Honour The Tide GM, Others
The General Manager of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Senibo Celestine Ogolo, Honourable Justice Boma Diepiri and former Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja are among eminent sons of Opobo that will be honoured as patrons by the National Union of Opobo Students during their national convention scheduled to hold in Opobo form Friday, December 28, 2012 to Saturday, January 5, 2013.
Others to be honoured as patrons are the Managing Director of Helpmate Consult, Mr Alonysia Peterside and the president of Opobians in Diaspora, Mr Shedrack Fubara.
Also to be honoured with life membership award for their service and contribution to the development and growth of the union are, Miss Lilian Finebone, Mr Donald Okojaja, Mr Isoboye E. Brown, Mr Dienye Apiafi, Alexander Ogolo and Mrs Grace Onyeka-Nzekwe.
According to a release by the National President of the body, Mr Ezekiel Dappa and the chairman of the convention Planning committee, Mr Sofiri Jaja, all Opobo students at home and abroad are expected to turn out en-mass to participate in various activities planned to equip them for their roles as future leaders.
Programme scheduled for the convention include, community service, carnival, lecture on the development of traditional titles in the kingdom and election of new member to run the national secretariat of the Union as well as the Award Night.
