RSNC, BSN To Partner On Bible Translation
The Rivers State Newspaper corporation (RSNC), publishers of The Tide group of Newspapers, has assured the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Rivers/Bayelsa area of partnership in the translation of the Bible into local languages.
General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo gave the assurance in his office yesterday when a delegation of the society paid him a courtesy call.
The General Manager who commended the society over their passion in propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ also assured that the corporation will support them in the area of publicity to create awareness among the populace.
He said The Tide as the foremost newspaper in the South South was concerned about the activities of the body, and tasked the organisation to translate the Bible beyond its present scope.
Earlier, the Secretary of the Rivers/Bayelsa Area of the society, Mr. Wilson Etekpe who led the delegation said the purpose of the visit was to identify with the noble vision of The Tide newspaper and seek areas of collaboration to propagate the gospel.
He said the BSN as a non-profit organisation was involved in producing, publishing and translating the Bible into various languages, adding that the society was in the process of translating the New Testament into Ijaw, Okrika, Kalabari and Eleme, while translation in some other major languages of the Niger Delta has been completed.
In his remark, the Publicity Secretary of the Rivers/Bayelsa area, of the society Mr Tamuno Omoni, said the society planned to organise its yearly conference in the last week of November this year under the theme “Accountability” at the Welsley Methodist Church Harbour Road, Port Harcourt.”
Also on the delegation was the treasurer of the body, Dame Nnenna Bibiye.
