Mr. Oguru advised them to maintain the existing peace in the community and avoid any act of violence that will lead to blood bath amongst themselves.
“We will like to find out what has happened ‘’, Oguru said, “We will like to find out the way of making peace as you go home now, I will urge you to remain peaceful because you know this is already November and Christmas is at hand. And if there is crisis in your community that means you would not have a peaceful Christmas’’.
He also promised to forward their petition to the Governor, but blamed the huge financial expenses made on the elections as unnecessary and root of the division amongst them.
In the words of the Permanent Secretary, ‘’I’am surprised as you have stated why youth elections should have attracted monies for campaigns. People who are vying for youth elections should be faceless. We have been preaching that people who come out for elections should come out because they want to serve, not to spend money because of what they are going to get out of it ‘’.
Earlier, Chairman of RTC, Comrade Kingsley Ejekwu recalled that problem started on 28th July when youth elections was held in the community.
He lamented that the winner was denied his mandate and a new caretaker committee instituted by some few community leaders with vested interests. This he stressed have led to various petitions by the youths but was not addressed.
Comrade Ejekwu disclosed that in other to avert violence, the youths have opted for legal redress adding,” we have done series of petitions to our amiable Governor telling him the dangers ahead of us’’.
In the same vein Secretary of the body, Victor Chindah lamented that the impasse has led to high youth unemployment since some due to the community have been denied due to lack of unity.
