18th NSF: Lagos Targets Medals In Hockey
The Head Coach, Lagos State Hockey Association, Edet Bassey, has said that he was confident that his teams would win medals at the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) in November.
The festival, tagged “Eko 2012”, is scheduled to hold from November 27 to December 9.
Bassey told newsmen in Lagos that his teams were prepared, expressing optimism that Lagos would not miss out on the medals table in hockey.
“We’ve been training; we are training hard towards winning medals. Definitely, my teams will win medals; gold, silver, bronze, my team will win.
“Deep inside of me, I will say a gold medal and we have all that it takes to win gold. We have all of our players in good shape,” the coach said.
“Our confidence has nothing to do with Lagos hosting the festival. We are going to approach every match as they come and win them convincingly.
“We have young and viable players who are ready to win. So, what we need is to train harder and spend more time to fuse the team together, Bassey said.
Lagos failed to qualify for hockey in the last festival.
