Rsg Sets Up Environmental Protection Agency, Two Others …Plans Oral Interview For 13,000 Teachers

As part of measures to tackle the
swelling environmental challenges in the State, the Rivers State Government has
announced the establishment of the State Environmental Protection
Agency(RISEPA) and two others including the Rivers State Waste Management
Agency(RISWAMA) and Rivers State Signage Agency.

The three new agencies were
endorsed by the State Executive Council presided over by Governor Chibuike
Amaechi in a meeting on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

Briefing Government House
Correspondents of the development, Commissioner for Information and
Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari said three administrators ahve been
appointed to oversee the establishement, as well as laying blueprint for the
take off of the new bodies. They include Chief Nemi Adoki who is to
oversee RISEPA, while Mr.Chris Olisa is to oversee the State Signage Agency and
Mr. Ade Adeogun is to oversee the new State Waste Management Agency.

She also disclosed plans by the
State Government to shut all motorparks in Port Harcourt metropolis by the
end of October this year especially for inter-state vehicles.

Semenitari stated that the measure
has become imperative so as to utilize the terminals built by
government at Eleme and Omagwa for inter-state vehicular movement. She
noted that by the end of October,Commissioner for Transport, Hon.George
Tolofari has been directed to enforce compliance.

Speaking on exco approval for the
commncement of State Local School Sports Festival, the Commissioner
said,’’ Exco approved the funding and implementation of the local school sports
festival by the Commissioners of of Sports and Education as committee members,while
Permanent Secretaries are to serve as secretaries…Prizes will e given to
performing schools with a first prize of N2million, second prize
of N1million and a third prize of N500,,000 and a N100,000 for
each participating schools ‘’.

Meanwhile, as the recruitment
of new 13,000 teachers gets to advanced stage, the state government has
hinted of engaging successful candidates who scaled the 160 cut -off in an oral
interview.

Commissioner for Information and
Communication, Mrs Ibim Semenitari gave the hint Wednesday while briefing
newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Meeting,’’ the results were
discussed but the Ministry of Education is still in the process of recruiting.

oral interview for those who apssed ‘’.

The Commissioner also said the
government has approved repair works on the collapsed part of
the flyover bridge at Airforce base in Port Harcourt.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.
