A total of 245 WAI Brigade officers have passed out after undergoing
an intensive training that would help them to instill discipline in the
society.

The State commander of WAI Brigade, Mr Iyalla Dokoru stated
this during the 2012 passing-out parade of the brigade at Emarid College along
Eneka/Igwuruta Road, Port Harcourt.

Mr Dakoru said WAI Brigade which is a para-military
voluntary organisation has trained able bodied young men and women, empowered
by Decree 100 of 1993 to enforce and promote discipline in the society at all
times, pointing out that the agency is fully committed to partner with
Government agencies in the fight against indiscipline.

He noted that without the knowledge and understanding of the
people, it would be difficult to promote discipline and justice, in the
society.

Mr Dakoru, therefore, called on the government to use an
instrument within its power to check and deal decisively with any act of
indiscipline in the society.

He further called on the military personnel, the press and
other stakeholders to join hands with the WAI Brigade organisation in fighting
all corrupt practices so as to transform the society.

Earlier in his address, the Acting Director of National
Orientation Agency (NOA) Rivers State, Mr Oliver Worlugbum assured that NOA
will continue to give all necessary supports to the WAI Brigade organisation to
enable it perform better.

He said WAI Brigade in Rivers State in one of the best
voluntary organisations, adding that since the inauguration of the organisation
in Rivers State, Government has always ensured that it gives constant training
that will help to instill discipline in the society.

Mr Worlugbum urged members of the WAI Brigade to always
reach out to the society and make sure they do the best for others to emulate
for a change for better, stating that they are supposed to be an embodiment of
truth and sincerity that will bring a change in the society.

Mr Worlugbum who was Chairman of the occasion urged all WAI
Brigade members to ensure they do the right thing that would transform Nigeria,
pointing out that the society has gone so bad that people do things without
showing remorse.

He, therefore, thanked Pastor Belemina Obunge for his effort
in encouraging the WAI Brigadiers to perform well.

Also speaking, the representative of Brigade Commander, 2
Amphibious Brigade, Port Harcourt, Lt. Col. U. A. Ndada, urged the members of
WAI Brigade to always practise what they have learnt to enable them fit
properly into the society.

He identified insecurity as one of the major problems in the
country which should be seriously handled.
