NDDC Tasks New Engineers On Performance
The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Christian Oboh, says the commission has a huge task to develop the region.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Iditoye Abosede, in Port Harcourt last Friday.
It said that Oboh spoke during an induction course for the commission’s newly-recruited engineers in Port Harcourt.
Oboh said that the commission, which had an enormous task in developing the Niger Delta, could not leave the supervision and execution of projects in the hands of a few engineers.
“We have quite a large burden on our shoulders to develop the Niger Delta region and we cannot do it alone, hence, we need to enlarge our team.
“This is the first time we have recruited this large number of engineers to work and act as the new face of NDDC.
“You are fresh graduates, young men and unpolluted minds, whom we expect to bring positive changes to the commission,” the statement quoted Oboh, as saying.
The NDDC boss said that confirmation of their appointment after six months would largely depend on their commitment and dedication to work.
The statement also stated that Mr Edikan Eshett, the Executive Director of Projects of the commission, told the newly-recruited engineers not to involve themselves in sharp practices.
“We don’t expect you to join consultants or contractors to try to short-change the commission,” he said.
