RSG To Commission New Fishing Trawlers
Special Adviser to the Governor of Rivers State on Aquaculture and Deep Sea Fishing, Hon. Kurotamunoye Briggs (JP) has said that the Governor of Rivers State will formally flag-off the maiden voyage of the Rivers State Government-owned fishing trawlers, soon.
Speaking while presenting safety gadgets and equipment to the crew members who are indigenes of Rivers State, Hon . Briggs thanked Governor Rotimi Amaechi for releasing funds for the procurement of the gadgets and equipment, which he said underscores the importance the State Government attached to life and property, as well as providing conducive and safe work environment for the people of the state. He enjoined the youths who are currently under going familiarisation and orientation training on board the vessels to be obedient, industrious and appreciative of government as such job opportunities are not easy to come by.
In his response, the Project Manager of Vijons Investment Nigeria Limited, managers of the trawlers, commended the governor for investing in this laudable project, which he says will engender commercial activity (buying and selling of fish) in the state. He confirmed to the Special Adviser that mobilization for the maiden voyage of the vessels was about 90% completed.
Some of the youths who were visibly excited over the facilities on board the trawlers thanked Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for providing them with a life line, and promised not to let the state government down.
