Commissioner Lauds RIVGIS Project
The Hon. Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi has expressed satisfaction on the milestones achieved by the Consultant handling the Rivers State Geographic Information System (RIVGIS) project.
The Commissioner made the remark recently while reviewing a demonstration of the already captured data by the consultant handling the project.
Hon. Ezekiel-Amadi highlighted the need to involve indigenes of the state in the RIVGIS Project team and urged the consultant to maintain his pace to achieve the targeted deadline.
The consultant handling the RIVGIS Project, Surveyor Tamunomiebaka I. Iyalla said he was in he Ministry to demonstrate the already accomplished jobs which included:
* File Capturing,
* Conversion of Survey Data,
* Capturing Information on Property history Cards,
* Caputring Information on Land Instruments according to Volumes as well as the
* Electronic payment System
According to the consultant, who is also the Managing Director, Megatech Earth Digital Systems Limited, the essence of the RIVGIS Project is to reduce the stress associated with the issuance of title documents in the State and also to allow for easy access to information on landed property through the internet system.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Christopher Briggs, mni JP, on behalf of the staff thanked the consultant for a job well done and urged that necessary corrections be effected prior to further presentation.
