Dickson Orders LG Chairmen To Declare Revenue Profile
Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has directed local government council chairmen in the state to declare their councils’ cash outflow and inflow to the people in the hinterlands, warning that any failure to abide with the instruction would be sanctioned.
Dickson gave the order just as he disclosed that the state government has floated N1b scholarship for 2012 to enable indigenes of the state further their education within and beyond the country.
Dickson said the policy would build capacity among the youths in the state to enable them fit into the society ,as he urged indigenes to avail themselves of the opportunity.
The Governor, who spoke in Yenagoa at the 13th democracy day celebration, said government wanted to bring out the best from the youths, stressing that one cannot be free until he acquires formal education
He assured that he would soon constitute a new scholarship board to implement the award of scholarship to qualified Bayelsans and informed that contract for the dualization of the Isaac Boro road and other streets in the state capital would be formally awarded next week, as Julius Berger and Setraco are now in the state to execute people-oriented projects.
He further said that Gitto which is handling the abandoned five star hotel would also return to site to complete the project.
Dickson promised that contract awards for the construction of model secondary schools and General Hospitals in each of the local government would be awarded next week to enhance development in the state.
The Governor said a new state security outfit code name “Operation Douakpo” would soon be launched in the state to complement the existing peace and security in the state,stressing that this would be different from Sylva’s terror group,”Operation famous tangbei.”
He announced that the state monthly wage has further dropped by N400m in May, saying that the verification exercise would continue until all the “ghost” names are expunged from the nominal roll.
