NTI Establishes More Learning Centres
The National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) in Kebbi has established five new centres for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Distance Learning programme.
Alhaji Salman Maiwada, the NTI coordinator in the state who disclosed this to newsmen
He said the increase in the number of the centres was sequel to increased number of applicants and teachers seeking qualifications.
Maiwada said the five new study centres were approved by the NTI national management and were located in Zuru,Yauri, Kangiwa, Bagudo and Jega local government areas.
According him, the number of distance learning centres in the state has now increased to seven.
He said the institute had recorded increase in the enrolment of students into the distance learning programmes after the state government’s intervention by appointing a seven-man task force committee on the expansion of the programme.
Maiwada said that 1,300 additional unqualified primary school teachers secured admission, adding, “we expect more enrolment from unqualified teachers’’.
He commended the NTI Director-General, Dr Ladan Sherehu, for the ongoing transformation in the institute, especially the innovation on ICT, which had added value to the institute’s services.
Maiwada commended the efforts of Kebbi government for identifying with the NTI to train teachers and assured the public that the institute would not relent in training teachers.
