House Committee Tasks Firm On Risonpalm
The Rives State House of Assembly Committee on Commissions and Agencies, has tasked the management of Siat Nigeria Limited to ensure the transformation of Risonpalm into a world class company.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Azubuike Wanjoku who gave the charge during an inspection of the farm as part of the committee’s oversight function said that the expectation of Rivers people was high as far as the company was concerned.
Hon. Wanjoku said that the committee decided to tour the company to enable it get first hand knowledge of the operations of Risonpalm Nigeria Limited.
Also speaking, the chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Benibo Anabraba and the chairman Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Hon. Ibiso Nwuche said that the wealth of Rivers State must be judiciously applied to enable it have multiplier effect on the people.
They urged Rivers people to be patient with the present administration as it was poised to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
Also speaking, the chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council, Sir, Welendu Amadi described the governor’s decision to resuscitate Risonpalm as a step in the right direction, pointing out that it would help to create employment opportunities for the people.
The Operation Officer, Siat Nigeria limited, Nicholas Nenna said that the rains and poor state of the plantation were acting as setbacks to the management.
He also said that the company was rehabilitating obsolete equipments.
